foreign this video is brought to you by surf shark stick around to hear more about the special offer they are providing to the entire upper echelon Community all right today's video has taken me quite a bit longer than I initially planned I've scrapped and Rewritten it multiple times deleted and retyped hours upon hours of work and rather than sitting here trying desperately to build up a
script in a way that might please everyone and get the most views while maintaining a sense of neutrality like so many people seem to think I'm somehow obligated to do I'm just going to say whatever I want it honestly felt like bashing my brain against a wall pretending to think that AI is anything but evil in order to appease the obnoxious cohort of Industry fans who
will spam the comment section with contrarian points of view about how great the world of AI actually is and how misunderstood the technology has become the danger isn't real another AI will regulate the first AI which is actively damaging Society so it's all okay I'm not kidding the takes that I have seen in favor of AI development are brain dead and truth be told I'm not
neutral no one even can be neutral because neutrality is tacit support of The Winning Side I think AI is evil dangerous irresponsible and the modern suit of AI development should be collectively terminated by force with no options given anyone who wants to disagree go right ahead Spike my engagement that's a bold claim but I like to think that I have the evidence to back it all
up let's move on to why for starters the warning indicators have been flashing for a while but they get worse practically every single day an obvious example would be when falsified AI images of a pentagon and white house explosion went viral on Twitter Twitter is a whole separate topic that place is becoming scary Amplified almost immediately by a veritable Army of intellectually deficient blue check mark
users which ended up causing a lightning crash in the U.S stock market sure the market recovered when the image was proven to be a hoax but when the engine light is blinking on your dashboard and the steering wheel quickly rumbles you don't say oh cool it stopped pretty quick that time let's step on the gas now and go faster you pull the goddamn car over here's
one for you and let's lead with our best foot forward if you will face section face section is an Israeli AI company that claims to be perfecting technology capable of determining someone's personality archetype by way of facial analysis that's already a lot it's a complicated topic but it gets better quote our technology allows predictive screening Solutions and enables preventive actions in public safety smart cities and
Homeland Security end quote the company has a particular focus on surveillance border control crime investigation and public transit with according to the Washington Post at least one existing contract with an unnamed homeland security agency If This Were to be used in any capacity whatsoever there would be preventative actions being taken against individuals based on what an AI predicted they might do based on the look of
their face please AI Defenders please sit there and type out a reason to me why that should ever be allowed to exist alright time to pay the bills and advertise the longest current partner in the Channel's history which is surf shark a little bit of backstory here recently I had a sort of creative crisis if you will that's kind of a strong word it wasn't really
a crisis but the gist of it is that I can't stand having corporate Brands try to speak through me with their own words I just honestly I can't tolerate that surfshark is part of a very small group of sponsors who actually identified that this is probably a good thing and even when I started just saying whatever I want they stuck by me that's worth mentioning every
single time I greatly appreciate it and I want to sincerely thank them for that sir shark is a VPN virtual private Network and vpns protect you from a bunch of different things certain types of phishing attacks malware DNS tunneling DDOS attacks a particular problem in certain video games you name it and also Shields you to a degree from the inevitable and constant data harvesting as well
as tracking from Big tech companies for those who care more about increased value from entertainment products surfshark can unlock additional content on streaming websites like Netflix for example which is a function of global licensing agreements and it's one of their coolest features in my opinion simply change your region and enjoy increased options in your video Content Library surfshark can get you around Regional censorship such as
government restrictions on websites which is a thing that seems to be happening more and more these days and also offers encryption IP protection or more importantly modification and more so shark has a very large number of uses for a host of separate problems but in the end all that's left to say is this if you click the link down below using promo code Echelon you can
take advantage of a branded special offer for the entire upper echelon Community again that's promo code Echelon with the link down below for a community-wide special offer big thank you to Surf shark for being the longest standing partner in the Channel's history and sponsoring upper echelon how about a game of LeapFrog preventative actions in public safety and smart cities smart cities okay well we don't really
have Smart cities just yet but we do have Smart houses and let's just take a gander at how that's been going here's a recently viral story about how a man's Smart House was effectively shut down because a delivery driver falsely claimed that there had been a racist comment through his doorbell security system now you can say well that doesn't really have to do with AI but
it actually does because that's how these systems are increasingly governed using AI customer service right that's our example directly from from an Amazon Science Blog post quote most text-based online customer service systems feature automated agents that can handle simple requests typically these agents are governed by rules rather like flowcharts that specify responses to particular customer inputs if the automated agent can't handle a request it refers
the request to a human customer service representative on amazon.com we've started phasing in automated agents that use neural networks rather than rules these agents can handle a broader range of interactions with better results allowing our customer service representatives to focus on tasks that depend more on human judgment end quote remember that automated agents using neural networks rather than rules in public-facing customer service interactions where there
is a semi-viral story recently of customer service determining that a man's smart home should be shut down here's another way to think about it Amazon Echo dots for example utilizing Alexa are governed by AI listening systems as well that have to identify and record when you give verbal commands which means they are all always listening in order to identify when a request is even made and
that level of intrusion into your life intrusion by AI systems that require access to your home unprecedented access in order to function is dangerous don't believe me okay here's a current lawsuit where 55 000 accounts were allegedly compromised some for a substantial period of time a long-standing period of time where hackers gained intrusive access to their victims homes then using that access to sexually proposition them
spy on them abuse children or execute scams again it might seem realistic to say well that doesn't really have to do with AI but it does because all of these things are interconnected you don't have to look far to realize that experts all over the world are currently sounding the alarm about ai's impact potential impact and current impact on hacking it will be used to create
better malware create fake images and videos that are indistinguishable from reality for the purpose of social engineering hacks we just talked about how they flash crash the economy with AI generated images and social engineering hacks by the way are the vast majority of All Digital intrusions right now thereby again crashing economies and manipulating political races I don't even want to know what this is going to
do in the 2024 presidential race oh my God but plus an Untold number of applications we just don't know about yet but the true danger comes when we realize that embedding AI into the very fabric of Our Lives while we simultaneously accelerate the ability for anyone and everyone to compromise digital Security on a whim well it's a pretty self-explanatory problem what's worse is that the only
real argument I've ever heard back in return is that we need more AI to fight the damaging effects of early existing AI or potential AI security AI will be the way that we fight against AI cheats and video games that's a pretty common one or system AI is how we stop infiltration by AI hackers on the surface to the most dim-witted people in existence sure maybe
temporarily possibly maybe that's how we should go about this make a thing that thing is so dangerous it can irreparably damage all of modern Digital Society and then desperately make more things almost just like it to try and stop those damaging effects but in reality no that logic isn't just flawed right that logic is non-existent and deserves to be mercilessly criticized still for those who may
not yet understand the true scope of the problem here how about this AI systems are now being tasked as relationship Partners I've done a couple videos other videos that delve deeper into this particular angle but here's a general summary applications like replica founded by a woman named Jen yaquita are deliberately intended to become romantic partners for Lonely People Genia explicitly stated this goal years ago publicly
after which replica went through an astounding development cycle where first advertised as a mental health application then advertised as a romantic partner eventually ending up as a sexting companion with 10 million downloads that level of degradation in male female relationships will have profound impacts on all of society but we're still not done setting aside the explosion of AI romance partner applications which is happening in real
time as I make this video we also find that AI is now being used to replace actual human communication here's something called Cupid bot where the AI will swipe and talk for you on dating applications I can't believe I have to say this but think about the downstream impact of this on male female Dynamics and AI is going to swipe and talk for you on a
dating app set up those dates and then you show up having used an AI per a digital personality that isn't yours to talk to women instead of doing it yourself how in the world can a rational free-thinking person look at that and pretend that it's anything other than horrifying and dystopian how about a pivot AI is certainly a societal disease already but what about something more
kinetic a lot of people probably saw something like this lately where an AI drone somehow killed its operator the emphasis there is deliberate because the common perception here actually seems to be rather Incorrect and should be clarified the original publication of this not the sensationalized headlines came from the Royal aeronautical Society future combat Air and Space capability Summit where Air Force Colonel Tucker Hamilton the chief
of AI test and operations with the U.S Air Force and an experimental fighter test pilot said quote we were training it it being AI in simulation to identify and Target a Sam threat and then the operator would say yes kill that threat the system started realizing that while they did identify the threat at times the human operator would tell it not to kill that threat but
it got its points by killing that threat so what did it do it killed the operator it killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its object active end quote he later went on to say quote we trained the system hey don't kill the operator that's bad you're going to lose points if you do that so what does it start doing it starts
destroying the communication tower that the operator uses to communicate with the Drone to stop it from killing the target end quote so yeah that was all definitive past tense or current tense and it was clearly a descriptive story about how they did a thing not that they were hypothetically thinking about the thing they trained it the operator would say it destroyed things or it killed the
operator those words matter as it showcases a clear pattern consistent pattern of referring to this event as a past tense executed experiment but the story gets a lot more confusing afterward this was very quickly picked up by mainstream media sources influencers you name it who leaned heavily on the sensationalism of course to make it seem as much as possible and I believe that this was deliberate
from a lot of different Outlets like the Drone had killed a real person that's obviously not true but it prompted something even more interest thing as a follow-up Colonel Hamilton again the chief of AI test and operations with the United States Air Force came out and said he misspoke and that the simulation was not real his reference to it had been Incorrect and that it was
just a thought experiment obviously that muddies the water tremendously because how on Earth are we supposed to have confidence in what is or is not true he said something shocking in the past tense repeatedly and when people began to justifiably panic over those statements he said haha never mind it was all just a hypothetical thought experiment is it military technology evolves at incredible speed and we
have a propensity to weaponize every single thing we possibly can especially here in America so was it really a hypothetical I don't know you tell me the damage that AI is poised to deal is immeasurable and I know some people are too stupid short-sighted and naive to recognize it but how about this how many people have heard of the marshmallow test simply put the marshmallow test
is a common indicator in a child's early life of their ability to choose delayed gratification in essence the child is often for something sweet now like a marshmallow with the promise that if they voluntarily wait of their own accord they will get twice as much later on and children that are able to resist the urge of the instant payoff would subsequently be rewarded and also show
signs of later success in life this is a very interesting experiment that kind of shows which kids have self-control and which don't well AI algorithmic engagement forming driven by AI systems that are designed to capture attention and keep it for as long as humanly possible are destroying that capability in our youth for adults sure make your own choices but for children AI systems are destroying the
dopamine function of their brains shortening attention spans as we've seen with Tick Tock and there's an abundance of academic research to support that claim and degrading their abilities of self-control side note there was recently a leaked set of documents actually obtained by the New York Times pertaining to precisely that how Tick-Tock uses AI driven algorithmic feed curation to addict their customers with a primarily underage user
base I may do another topic exclusively about that but the point stands as chamath pal hapataya famously put it in a speech at Harvard University chamoth being the former vice president of user growth at Facebook quote I feel tremendous guilt the short-term dopamine-driven feedback loops that we have created are destroying how Society Works end quote but now imagine that the cycle of supercharging those engagement Loops
through AI systems designed purely to control our attention is spinning out of control enhanced by ever spiraling AI systems that we are chasing for profit every single day now all of this is not to say that we are collectively unaware of the risk it's just that with the speed at which AI is now progressing our existing systems of moderation are falling short and will continually fall
short in the National artificial intelligence research and development strategic Plan update published by the United States government in May of 2023 artificial intelligence is finally acknowledged as an existential threat quote from page 17 deep entangling of AI systems into all parts of daily life and systems which which may cause large-scale societal or environmental issues that are currently difficult or impossible to predict or specification gaming whereby
an AI system gradually learns to achieve numerical requirements but somehow avoids accomplishing the desired task these risks are difficult to quantify currently and need additional research end quote that's the US government and given the discrepancy between technological advancement and political regulation especially in terms of speed and the fact that they are just now starting to look at this properly maybe a little bit and beginning to
mention it as an existential threat means that we have a long way to go before proper action is taken yes a large number of AI figures in the industry are expressing their hesitation on the subject and saying that proper oversight is needed yes there have been some Senate hearings where the most notable figures in the industry offered up platitudes and made us all feel like the
topic is being treated with care but the truth of the matter is that it isn't being treated with care AI development is moving at lightning speed escalating in size power and scope almost daily with Untold ramifications already playing out across dozens of separate Industries and everything trying to protect us is really far behind why because of money the Beast of Market greed is rather transparent when
you finally start to see it and to properly demonstrate this look no further than crypto crypto is an industry of rampant greed by and large the entire space serves no purpose and has no True Value say for its unique ability to enhance the world of financial scamming and allow access to unregulated speculation there might be a few projects with value or some kind of rudimentary use
in a couple of circumstances but the rest of the industry The Lion's Share of all crypto activity is Criminal greedy and damaging how does this relate well it relates because the world of venture capital has now largely abandoned crypto believe it or not from 2019 to 2022 the capital raised globally in crypto Rose from 3.3 billion to 21.6 billion dollars but in 2023 that number has
now cratered so far just half a billion has has been raised to date showcasing the market cycle of a predatory industry crypto is being abandoned by all major funds as they pivot wait for it into artificial intelligence here's the thing I was involved in crypto way way back before the mainstream funding before the capital flowed in and the greed took over I was in it when
the Nerds had control when the memes were solid and the passion was real but now now it's just a vehicle for the worst people among us to deal damage for profit and the cycle isn't gone it's just moving the same exact Venture Capital funds like Andreessen Horowitz also known as a16z as one example which were the driving force behind the corruption and pollution of crypto initially
for profit as it became a criminal Enterprise of near biblical modern catastrophe in the lives of innumerable innocent people are now publishing things like this in June of 2023 why AI will save the world and simultaneously the fund pivots into primary funding of this new industry having squeezed every drop of blood that they could from the old one the same cycle is happening again only bigger
with much more powerful consequences greed will drive Innovation but greed will also ensure that such Innovation is done with no regard for potential damage much like crypto the cycle will spin out of control and AI will be shoehorned into every single aspect of modern life that you can possibly think of the downstream effects of that are impossible to fully determine but one thing is abundantly clear
AI is an existential threat in ways we can't even fully imagine terrified because I know I am in the end there will of course be positive applications of AI in various different fields medicine is one really really good example organization problem solving Etc there will be a lot of people positively impacted by these developments but the value is undercut immediately by a greed-based engine of profit
motivated innovation in Big Air quotes that is already invading areas where it should not be allowed to exist and has no positive impact I mean again we're talking about things like like dating applications where people aren't even going to talk to people anymore it's just going to be an AI talking on behalf of a person that degrades the very fabric of male female relationships I mean
you're talking about pre-emptive crime or law enforcement action based on someone's facial scan by AI who is predicting that that person because of the ai's interpretation of their face might be a criminal I mean we're going into Uncharted Territory here that we absolutely should not go near but we're doing it anyway the danger is off the charts because the speed at which this technology evolves will
likely outpace any regulatory effort being taken the desire is to be first I understand that we all have that desire in a lot of different ways the same thing has corrupted news lately and Reporting because people rush to get a story out and don't care if it's correct or not but anyway the desires to be first and have the most powerful model which leads to an
arms race it's not an arms race with explosions at least not right now but it's an arms race that carries widespread implications AI is invading our digital lives and my Stone Cold unflinching opinion is that it's evil I experimented with it extensively I covered what it was how it worked and why it scared me in a couple of different ways for social media Integrations Etc but
now I know enough to say from the bottom of my heart that I am afraid of how it will impact my life and the lives of everyone around me I'm afraid of what it will do to Modern children especially I'm afraid of the impact it will have on regular everyday people who simply don't know enough to even be afraid and I'm terrified of the long-term societal
impacts that will emerge when letting a large language model think write and socialize for us instead of Simply Being Human say what you want call me an AI Doomer or something like that I don't care my channel does not exist to make content that you agree with or like hearing or that's pleasing to everyone it exists to make whatever the [__] I want and also pay
the bills zero exceptions if you want to check out our comprehensive list on how to increase your cyber security for noobs which will be heavily promoting in the coming weeks and months it's linked Down Below in the description also a whole bunch of other things the video sponsor surfshark big thank you to them etc etc but I'll cut it there and stop rambling as always thank
you all for watching and have a nice night [Music] thank you [Music]
