have a whole bunch of complex different stipulations for how it would operate but basically they tried to Target Tick Tock in July of 2020. that effort though popular to some was ultimately unsuccessful leading to a sort of holding pattern as the government figured out what to do next and tried to tape itself back together after a continually devolving string of mistakes basically just another day in

the US of a still in the background ever since that point in time a few different things have happened number one tension with China have dramatically risen I won't go into why it's not that type of video for the moment but they have this means that people are more likely to support something that is seen as adversarial to China which is not necessarily A Bad Thing

on its face but certainly not good by default number two general U.S public sentiment has shifted according to Pew research data roughly 50 percent of Americans outright support a complete ban of tick tock while just 22 percent are opposed to it for clarity that's more than twice as many people supporting the government compared to opposing it which can be rather dangerous lastly number three after rightly

identifying the opportunity that they are presented with the US government has correctly determined that some kind of legislation must be crafted which will curb the danger presented by services like Tick Tock should they be weaponized against America by Foreign interests again fundamentally understandable but very risky effectively the US government has waited on the sidelines till now but is currently processing not just one or two but

three separate pieces of legislation that made automatically impact the future of tick tock as well as every single citizen in the country they just don't know it yet for the most part now governmental overreach in the name of security is one thing and believe me of course we're talking about that a whole bunch today but governmental stability is something else entirely lately the financial markets have

been absolutely crushed by outside forces inflation high-risk assets aggressive quantitative tightening Etc but today's sponsor utilizing government-backed U.S treasury bills is offering a 4.8 percent yield on your cash when held in what's now called a treasury account the premise is simple compared to high yield savings accounts averaging out at roughly 3.8 annually for the best yield according to nerd wallet as of March 7 2023 I

completely at garnering cross-party support meaning it's probably dead in the water right now but the quote from Angus King despite being accidental in a way I don't think he meant it in the way that I'm interpreting it perfectly describes the real situation that's actually unfolding behind the scenes the second piece of legislation on the table right now is called the data and algorithm transparency agreement or

data act which requires the White House to report to Congress and determine whether reasonable grounds exist to ban Tick-Tock outright this one has advanced out of committee garnering bipartisan support to a degree though it has of course been scrutinized and criticized by opposing party members and also comes with the added weight of a rapidly shifting public opinion to carry it Forward basically should the data act

be carried to completion and signed into law the White House would wield even more power when it comes to influence over American lives and once again this bill is a fair bit more complex than just the tick tock ban component itself same as the anti-social CCP act but the basic format is still relatively similar big law far-reaching ramifications with widespread possible implications more power for the

government in the name of safety that's number 2. again relatively unlikely to pass I don't see that as having any real shot but now is the big one which is number three keep in mind ever since Donald Trump three years ago the US government has been deliberately pushing towards some kind of tick-tock regulation they already ban it on government devices in I think 30 different states

Etc but our third legislative example for today really drives home the point that their Endeavor is not to preserve and protect American Liberties no no no their Endeavor is to expand and solidify information control the third example for today is the restrict act also known as the restricting the emergence of security threats that risk information and Communications technology act heck of a name very long but

this one is serious serious business this bill having garnered immediate bipartisan support already with cross-party initial sponsors will give additional power to the government when it comes to Banning technology or in this case applications from adversarial countries quote unquote like Iran North Korea and China sounds good in theory right hypothetically maybe not so much the restrict act like pretty much anything the government ever does or

even proposes for that matter is a massive massive power grab and the implications behind it are enormous for starters by interpretation and covered Ad nauseam by YouTubers for the past couple of weeks the restrict act would criminalize the usage of VPN Services virtual private Network Services to access banned applications or even websites with up to a million dollars in fines and 20 years in prison that's

insane but it's just the beginning this bill encompasses AI machine learning Quantum Computing and even robotics it expands all the way to special interest influence and even attempts to nullify Freedom of Information requests it's a long document but I do have to read just a couple of paragraphs for everyone to get the full picture quote no person may engage in any transaction or take any other

action with intent to evade the provisions of this act or any regulation order Direction mitigation measure prohibition or other author authorization or directive issued there under end quote yeah that's pretty far-reaching how about this one quote no person may engage in any conduct prohibited by or contrary to or refrain from engaging in any conduct required by any regulation order Direction mitigation measure prohibition or other authorization

or directive issued under this act more language to completely control what you can and cannot see here's another interesting part quote interfering in or altering the result or reported result of a federal election as determined in coordination with the attorney general the Director of National Intelligence the Secretary of Treasury and the Federal Election Commission end quote that one's interesting because right now I'm working with like

this is just a side anecdote here I'm working with right now a team of five people to map what we believe is a Blue Wave political propaganda bot Network on Twitter that targeted the 2020 election and seems to be spinning back up for 2024. does that count as interfering does my investigate aiding it count as interfering probably not but does it why does the bill contain

there is targeting vpns and imposes enormous penalties for basically whatever and whenever the government decides this bill might pass and the reason it might pass is Shifting public opinion on Tick Tock a majority of actual Tick Tock users don't want the application banned but wider public opinion at a more than two to one ratio and growing especially supported by older individuals in the United States supports

the Banning of tick tock completely thereby inadvertently making it easier for the government to execute this kind of power grab now don't get me wrong here I hate Tick Tock some of the most viral videos I have ever made on the channel were purely a result of me criticizing tiktok relentlessly over things like decreased attention span overtly sexualized content served to children and multiple other issues

that range from spying directly on journalists to secretly throttling down the reach and growth potential of anyone with visible disfigurements or disabilities Tick Tock is terrible for our society and especially modern youth but this isn't how we fix the problem in 2001 911 led to the Patriot Act and we all failed to stop it myself included But Here and Now in 2023 Tick Tock is being

used as a trojan horse to build shotgun style legislation so far beyond the reasonable scope of the problem it's actually terrifying on the most basic fundamental level I am in support of a tick tock ban in some capacity how you do it certainly matters of course but I would lean towards being extremely generous with my own personal interpretation given the sheer amount of damage Tick Tock

certainly can and is doing as we speak how however layering in Provisions that decrease the level of accountability that politicians have increase the amount of shady financing and lobbyist involvement and Define absolutely insane levels of Retribution is really the best word for it for anyone who even tries to get around these Commandments from on high well suffice it to say that's the wrong way to approach

a Tick-Tock ban yet here we are Tick Tock has become a sort of tool Rising skepticism ties to the CCP growing favorability of a general ban and all of it a perfect storm for the government to step in corrupt the idea of technological safety and turn it into technological dystopia really with what seems to be this generation's Patriot Act but worse every couple decades something big

happens and I myself was too young to understand what was even really happening in the aftermath of 9 11 but I'm grown up now and this is happening clear as day none of us should ever support these pieces of legislation in their current form except maybe the anti-social CCP act maybe maybe maybe but that one has the least chance of passing the real threat is the

restrict act it might pass it increases possible government corruption decreases your online Freedom restricts your right to access information and hold government accountable and attaches heavy penalties to anything that goes against governmental order roping in everything from Quantum Computing to Ai and even election interference whatever they Define that to mean crazy times one last time to really let it sink in because this is actually one

of the more important videos I've ever done even though it wasn't one of the longest investigations or one of the most interesting topics really it definitely is one of the most important ones the restrict act as good as it might be to get rid of tick tock generally that's the case right getting rid of tick tock would be a good thing in America but despite that

the restrict act means that a group of government officials can decide that certain parts of the online world are dangerous to America and then you will be thrown in prison for up to 20 years and find up to a million dollars if you go around them and access that service website or application what in the actual [__] is going on and why would we ever allow

them to sign that into law I don't really know how to Spur any legitimate action on this I guess just call your local Congressman or Senators I don't really know how to go about doing that maybe I'll look it up and learn how someday and I guess I'll do it myself pretty soon here I'll call up and say hey what are you doing don't vote for

this blah blah blah because maybe it'll make a difference but yeah tell them this is a disastrous if you do call your local congressmen or senators or whatever your local Representatives tell them this is a disastrous and obviously corrupt overreach of government Authority and that you won't vote for them again ever if they vote for this I I don't know it feels so futile lately trying

to say anything against the common perception and now it's turning into a common perception that Tick Tock needs to be banned which is going to be like the swell the wave that they ride in order to enact some kind of legislation it's just I don't know fighting against common perception is a bit hard lately um I feel like I need to make this video because the

general American populace is about to be used taken for a ride and then controlled in brand new creative ways all because we have rightly identified that Tick Tock is poisonous to America but yeah we should not let that happen if we can ever possibly help it and please do make your voices heard that's it if you want to support their links Down Below merchandise social media
