Cornel West Takes On Bernie Sanders | The Kyle Kulinski Show

so Dr Cornell West went on Jordan Sheridan's status quo Channel and did an interview with him as we all know Cornell West is now running for the green party nomination for president of the United States and um there's this little clip here I wanted to show you I found this interesting for a number of reasons so let's listen and then we'll react and it's true that

you know brother Bernie you know I'd always tell him and you know he's my dear brother forever but I like him he got to be true to himself and then being true to himself he's not the kind of brother that goes for the Joker I'm a different kind of brother I'm a different account you know what I mean I'm different kind of brother you know we

on stage and we singing Ebony and Ivory he gonna sing in his tune and I'm gonna sing in mind right and we still Brothers but we sing at a different kind of uh a different kind of style a different kind of way of going at it now of course he had a righteous indignation at Wall Street and he would go over the juggler when it came

to Wall Street greed greedy Elites and so forth but I think one has to have that same or similar sensibility when it comes to militaristic policies of broad Imperial policy abroad as well as the corruption and the role of big money in both parties um and I mean it's a way of saying well you know how do you decommodify health care how do you decommodify campaign

Finance how do you demilitarize your foreign policy how do you decarbonize the air well all of these have something to do with the organized greed at the top so the comment on Bernie is what I found most interesting he's saying Bernie doesn't really go for the jugular I do and of course he does it in his classic Cornell Westway a lot of love and affection and

adoration I still get giddy every time I hear him say like brother Bernie or you know Brother Kyle he's called me Brother Kyle when he was on uh Crystal Kyle and friends and he's just a lovely lovely man so look on the substance of what he's saying here this has always been my biggest bone to pick with Bernie Sanders now I love Bernie and Bernie awakened

an entire generation to what's possible politically um but the fact of the matter is his biggest misstep ever since you know climbing the mountain and being the the head Lefty the left leader his biggest misstep was when he dropped out to support Joe Biden he did not get the policy extractions that he could have gotten you know I remember when Bernie announced his endorsement of Joe

Biden it was like a hostage video do you support um do you support 15 minimum wage Joe he's like yeah Bernie I think I think that's a good idea and then like a lot of these things he didn't follow through on so you know at the time I was screaming from the top of my lungs the best thing for Bernie to do is to meet with

Joe Biden in private and give him a list of executive orders specifically that are in his power that he could do for example under the bidol ACT he has the ability Biden has the ability as president to just lower all prescription drug prices across the board because under that act if there was taxpayer money that went into funding the research and development for a drug then

the US government can control the price so he has the authority we in the past 20 years there's been no drug that's been made without taxpayer assistance you're just lower drugs across the drug prices across the board that's one example you could not only legalize marijuana completely but you could free all the non-violent drug offenders who are locked up at the federal level there's like there's

burning endorsement because it's super important to be unified going into the general election and he could have used his Leverage uses leverage lists 10 things that are very very Crystal Clear here's the executive order I want you could literally draft the executive orders in the specific language and be like this is if you sign on to these if you sign on to signing these executive orders

I will be your number one cheerleader instead you just got like vague concessions of like Yale sport 15 minimum wage and stuff that involves Congress but Biden has less control over Congress right what he does have control of is the executive branch he could have demanded as commander-in-chief no more Aid to Israel no more Aid to Saudi Arabia he could have demanded these things he didn't

right so he didn't go for the keep it real he did not go for the jugular he just didn't and so if he did that approach then honestly I would have become the biggest Biden bro back in 2020 I would have been arguing from the top of my lungs to go vote for Joe Biden he's already agreed to these 10 very specific executive order concessions and

these are huge wins for everybody so I think the criticism of Bernie is legitimate he doesn't go for the jugular but my criticism of Cornell West is You Are by definition not going for the jugular if you're running as a third party candidate look I want to be kind to you and I love Cornell West and I got nothing against the green party I voted for

many green party candidates but keep it real it is by definition not going for the jugular if you have zero prayer of winning sorry it's just a fact so if they were to put all of their efforts and an emphasis on well first we're going to get rid of first pass to post voting we're going to get ranked Choice voting if they leaned into that and

they could get that at a national level at a federal level then again all of a sudden I become the biggest green party simp on the planet I become the biggest Cornell westbro on the planet but unless and until you get that you're putting the cart before the horse and really you know best case scenario for the run it's like you're trying to get five percent

which will get you matching funds which will make it so the green party has taken marginally more seriously and is funded marginally more right so it's hard for me to listen to somebody who's running as a third party candidate say I'm gonna go for the jugular no if you were really going for the jugular you would have been the first Lefty in the presidential race and

you would have been in the primary as a Democrat because that's where you're going to make the most noise that's where you're gonna get the most eyeballs that's where you at least have a prayer of debating Joe Biden I mean it's like pulling teeth trying to get him to debate RFK and Marianne Williamson but there's literally no hope of him debating a third party candidate right

so that's why I call it with all love and respect it's self-disenfranchisement it wouldn't be that if you got rid of first pass to post voting and got us ranked Choice voting it wouldn't be that but as it is right now there's no prayer of winning it would be a phenomenal run if you got five percent and I don't think we have the luxury of waiting

30 40 years for a political project to Blossom from scratch what we should do is use the infrastructure that's already there that gives us an advantage and try to win that way where you actually have a chance you actually have a prayer of winning you know look I've voted for Jill Stein in previous elections right Jill Stein got what three percent of the vote and I

knew going into I'm voting for somebody who's got like no prayer in Hell Bernie Sanders got like 45 of the vote running in a Democratic primary 45 is way more than three last time I checked way way closer to winning way way closing to actually making change and by the way yes Bernie's presence did in many ways Force Biden to be more Progressive than he otherwise

would have been Biden has been a much more Progressive president than he was a Senator he was a way more conservative senator than he's been a president these are all facts so Wes I love you man but it's not going for the jugular if you're running through it's just not it's just not going for the jugular um but look the ship has sailed and what I

will say is this anybody who feels like I can't stomach a vote for um Joe Biden in a safe State well you know you do have a good option now you do have a good option now but I I also fear the the whole spoiler effect thing now I don't I don't buy into that notion myself I think it's kind of a bogus notion but a

lot of people just have this perception that it's real regardless of the evidence and that will prevent them from ever voting for a third party candidate and that's why I keep saying you have to get rid of first pass post voting you have to do ranked Choice voting to be taken more seriously and uh I hope they do that I hope they can do that I

hope they can achieve that because then a lot more people would be open to this idea of a third party effort but there you have it um look I'd love to get Cornell West on uh Crystal Kyle and friends again we can talk about his campaign and the issues that he's running on and the Strategic approach Etc that would be great uh like I said I

think it was a very very positive thing that he listened to the backlash and he abandoned The People's Party which is an organization that has no track record of success and is internally a complete Nutter mess and he's going to the green party which is a much more serious organization um so I'm very happy that you listen to the people in that respect and maybe we
