You're listening to the only place on the internet that offers the perfect blend of high quality premium cigars and cryptocurrency news and commentary. Welcome to cigars and crypto. Now here's your host, Invest New York. Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to this episode of cigars and crypto. You know who it is. You shaman Dante. Let me tell you, I haven't done a podcast in a while.
You guys know that I've been building out my cigar brands. I've been kind of focused on that. But I came across a very interesting project. And I decided I had to have these guys on my show. So today I'm going to be speaking with Sean Honeyman and Jimmy Lane of crypto coral tribe, gentlemen. How are you today? I like Dante doing well, man. Thanks for having
us on and really excited for the talk ahead. Awesome. Awesome. So I'm not one to mix words. I want to start with my first question. Let's start with you, Sean. How did you get into crypto? Awesome. Dante. Well, yeah. Thanks for having us on and yeah, crypto is an interesting one because obviously it's been around for a long time now. And I think we've all heard
about it or we would have heard about it about five, six years ago and people making money and losing money in it. It was all seemed a bit wild. But I finally dipped my toe in about two or three years ago and bought Bitcoin. And since then, just, you know, everyone's a genius in a ball market and started making money. So obviously spending more time and
naturally over the past year or so discovered NFTs. And that was the point of no return for me. So beyond crypto, I started really looking into kind of blockchain applications a couple of years back. It's this guy. I don't know if you know, Navale. Navale. So that's kind of what drew me in with crypto being kind of the resource that a lot of blockchains work and
you tell us. So that was the main entry point for me a couple of years back. Awesome. Awesome. You know, yeah, I give you my entry. I got in September, October of 2014 started out as a Bitcoin miner. I know my listeners not have told the story a million times, but I did start out as a Bitcoin miner. It was an interesting way to get free
money to fly places. And I happened to be traveling a lot for work. I went to pay for a flight to San Diego. And there was this option that said pay with Bitcoin. And I was like, what the hell is that? And that was how I fell down the rabbit hole fast forward to now now. I am a blockchain and Bitcoin advocate. And a cryptocurrency advocate.
I've been a PM on two crypto projects and a content, a content creator. You could call it or community manager for a third project. So I've dipped my tone in space very early, but I'm an old school guy. So there's a lot that I don't understand, which is why I have interesting people like you come on my show and educate me and my listeners. So thanks
for asking man. But tell me, tell me about the crypto coral trial. I did some research on you guys and the project looks super interesting. And what made you come up with the concept for NFT. So that's that's like a two part piece there. Yeah. So what's what's your listeners kind of understanding of NFTs? Because I know you focus normally on cryptocurrency. So do you reckon
overall explanation on that? I want I want everything started from 50,000 feet and then work your way down. Okay. So overall, as a lot of the people listening will know, NFTs are just basically any digital file, which is stored on the blockchain. And therefore that digital file, whether it's a video, a document, a picture is therefore now traceable. It's transparent. And you can prove ownership through
that file being stored in the blockchain. So that what opened the doors in most recent years was to creating NFT communities, not only one in one pieces of art, where artists could be generated for their efforts, but also building communities through collections, whatever that collection had as a main interest. So go back maybe six months ago, we've been exploring NFTs for a while now. And most
people in the team have always had quite a strong connection to nature, regardless of our interest in technology, which two things that don't normally go hand by hand. So we saw all the potential and NFTs not just through kind of the financial aspect, but also transparency and community building. Often, you say, you want to go fast to go alone, if you want to go far, you
go together. And you've seen that countless times in NFT community. So we, the whole project spawned from the idea of how can we merge these two things, nature and technology, in a way there, where they're both working in synergy. Right. And yeah, we've seen the countless kind of opportunities that NFTs provided. We saw that, you know, there was so many routes in which we could go
to kind of leverage the potential of it. And we've seen that. And really make an impact in our natural world, not just through initiatives, not just through transparency and the way we operate, but mainly in having a community of people all kind of working towards common goal. And that's where a lot of this started. So let's, let's have a conversation about, let's unpack that a little
bit. Let's talk about the nature piece. Where did that come from? Are you guys like big into, um, conservation and wildlife or just animals in general? Like, how did that concept get married with the, the technical piece and the technological piece for the blockchain, the NFT and a currency or coin? Sure thing, man. So for me, it's quite a personal note. My good father was really
into nature. In essence, I grew up, he'd be the one taking me when I was six fishing, sailing, diving. I grew up in this going to the summer place in the East Coast of Spain, the small fishermen village called Kaule Ballos, where there'd be a marine reservation there. So I kind of always grew up surrounded by nature and really enjoying and disconnecting within that, you know,
and any activity that had to do with that. So that was on my personal life, really connecting with that. But then on my professional career, I've always been dwelling and kind of diving into technology and startups using tech in some way. And both interests kind of came together quite nicely. When I went on this trip to Mozambique to work with an NGO in order to outgrow
a project using agri tech. And that kind of became evident on how these two interests that I've been, you know, growing throughout my life of nature and technology, could merge together in so many countless ways to kind of leverage both to improve the way we can conserve nature, but also use technology for that common purpose. So it's kind of a combination of, you know, personal life
and professional experiences. So that goes to this point. Awesome. So Sean, my next question is for you. Okay. Because now you guys have this niche community that is joined through blockchain tech and the love of life. Not just wildlife, but just life in general, because all life is equal. Right. What do you as a content creator do day to day? To keep the community engaged? How?
What does community engagement look like for the crypto coral tribe? How does that work? Yeah. That's a great question. And, you know, it's a difficult part of the job is figuring out the right message is to communicate, right? But the main thing for me is just articulating everything that we do and want to do in a very clear and concise way. So writing a lot of
articles about the project's vision and exactly how we're going to execute on that. As well as, you know, keeping our community updated because they've essentially invested their time and trust in us by being part of this community at such an early stage. So just giving them updates of what we're doing as we're moving forward. So if we're forming new relationships with NGOs, such as our marine
conservationists that we work with, we'll post about it and share amazing photos of their marine reservations and whatnot. And also keeping them updated on our art process. Because our art man like Dante, it's awesome. Any list of other things that we can do is just to give them a chance to do something. And as watching go check it out, there's some real creativity behind it and
a distinct uniqueness that sets us apart from everything in the NFT space. So my job is just trying to communicate our creative artists, sort of mission and vision behind it. And yeah, responding to what the people enjoy and just giving them more of it. Okay. So before we go further, right? Now my listeners can't see what I see because I can actually see you guys. So
we're going to be able to do something that we can do. What's the deal with the picture behind you? Because that looks like a place that I've been to in Cuba. I see that photo and you know this is cigars and crypto. So when I saw that picture of Cuba, you know, to immediately peeked my interest. I love that man. Good. I'm glad. It's awesome. Yeah.
That's awesome. I wish I could say credit for it and say it was mine. But that's like that. You know what? I've actually, my laptop right now is sat on a cigar box. I don't know if you can see that properly. Yeah. He's the one that's been to Cuba, both the scars, everything. So you guys should probably be talking. You know that. Yeah. Yeah. He's going
to be my next guest. Count on that. So you know, you said something that interested me. You said that we should see the art that you're doing, right? Where can my listeners go to? To view this art and how can they view it? Because a lot of the people who listen to me are cigar smokers. They are also in traditional finance. And they listen to me
to learn about new things and how to do new things. So how can we view the art that you guys create with the crypto coral trap? Yeah. Awesome. So there are quite a few places. You can check it out. The best place if you want to see the full sort of art. Artistic process with early sketches and videos leading up to the final creations are, is
our discord. We have some channels within there, which are dedicated to our artistic process. And then a bit more easier access would be our website, crypto coral tribe.io. I'm sure you'll put the links in the description. And there you can see a few of our characters and the art and details in it. And then the last place would be our Twitter where we quite often post
pictures of our art, along with the descriptions and the art. And then we have the insights behind the process. Amazing. So you heard it folks. Crypto coral tribe.io. Also, make sure you follow them on Twitter. If you follow me, you need to be following them. Okay. You need to be following them. That's how this works. Okay. All right. So let's go a little further down the
rabbit hole. Okay. So I understand now how you have married the two concepts of conservation with technology. I understand what community engagement looks like for the crypto coral tribe. I understand the art behind the NFT. Right. So now let's talk about the NFT in a little bit of the technicals. Not too much. Just a little bit of the technicals. Okay. So if I wanted to participate
in the NFT community offered by crypto coral tribe. Where would I go and how would I do? Sure thing. So Discord, you speak about community. And Discord has been kind of a focal point for every NFT community. And it's opened so many doors to allow the community to kind of shape the direction of what we're doing. So that is kind of like the central piece where
we're navigating and discussing about the project. Our NFT tokens are stored in Salana. I don't know if you're aware of Ethereum used to be or still is kind of the leading platform. So we're storing NFTs. However, their energy consumption and CO2 emissions currently before Ethereum 2.0 rolls out is too high for us to onboard. Given kind of our narrative and our missions to fight for the
planet. So where all of our NFTs are stored on the Salana blockchain. Meaning that people in order to participate and purchase or become an NFT holder of the crypto coral tribe. They need to buy Salana cryptocurrency. So we're going to do that. They're able to access a smart contract which stores our NFTs. Ultimately, as we kind of introduce the impact fund, which will be a mechanism
allowing people to direct and vote on different projects, which leverage our technology to invest in wildlife. They'll be able to connect their wallet, which will scan for their NFT within our website. And they'll be able to access that dashboard and all the utilities of that offers. So we're kind of bridging the gap and we're playing around with connecting people. Through our own website, like Discord and
any other social media. Okay. So holding the to get the NFT, you have to have a Salano wallet. Right. Yeah. All right. So I'm assuming that you that my listeners can get a Salano wallet online for their browser, a native, something like iOS Android that can go anywhere to get the Salano wallet. Right. Yeah. So it's called Phantom wallet, pH, a and T o m Phantom.
And you can get that on Apple iOS app or you can get it as like an extension for Chrome. And that's probably the best Salano wallet your listeners could use. Okay. Awesome. Now that's great news. Right. So I have now downloaded the Phantom wallet. I have backed up my seed phrase. Let me say it again. Back up your seed phrase. Take a screenshot. Don't tell it
to anyone. You write it down and you put it in the safe place. You put it in your human door with the rest of your really high quality Cubans, your old bitch, your Davidov. You put it in there so that you know that no one will touch it. Okay. So now you backed up your seed phrase. You have this wallet. You go out and you get
some Salano from your exchange of choice. So now how do I get the NFT? Where do I go to get the NFT? So essentially it would be on our website is the current plan. You can go directly onto our website. And there'll be a section called mint. And what you do is you connect your wallet to the website. And then you just press the mint button
and a lovely new shiny entity should be sent to your wallet in no time. We say that's the plan. Hey, at the moment, but there are other options because we there's quite a big secondary marketplace for selling it. And I think that's a lot of the same thing. The main NFT is called Magic Eden. And they have a launch pad service where you can mint via
via that website. So that's also a plan that we're fully capable of doing it ourselves. And yeah, we're flexible as you have to be in this space. Alright, now this is now we're getting to the nitty gritty. Okay, so let me recap because cigar smokers only have about a good 10 minute attention span. Okay. You know, I look, man, if you smoking a really good cigar
you're fixated on that and you're thinking about the note. The flavors, the nuance and everything. So I'm going to recap for everyone. I have grabbed my phone. I have installed Phantom wallet. I've gone out to my exchange of choice. And I picked up some Salana. I now have Salana in my wallet. I go to crypto coral tribe dot IO. I find a button there called mint.
And I meant the NFT. So now the NFT sits in my wallet. Now you're going to need to maintain a lot of little Salana in your wallet. And you're going to need to have this NFT. Okay. So now that I have the NFT, I can join the discord community and learn about the project. Is that right. Or can I join the discord prior to having the
NFT. So this is where it gets interesting. So you can join the discord prior to having the NFT, but having the NFT will allow you to unlock access to private channels and private sort of subcommunities within that wider wider space. So if you connect your discord to your wallet and the NFT almost serves as a key to open these channels. And then that will be the
sort of the core community we work with to discuss, propose and invest in projects, which really help our planet. So that's like the inner circle, which you can only get access to by owning our NFT. But then there's a wider community beyond that who are just interested in the project who don't actually own the NFT. So you heard it folks. Membership comes with benefits. Let me
repeat that membership. Right membership comes with benefits. So get in where you fit in. So gentlemen, I have one last question. And this time I'll start with Jimmy. Jimmy, where do you see the future of blockchain tech and cryptocurrency in the next three to five years? And that's a great question. Because of the last three years ago, it would have probably been completely different. The last
year in blockchain has been insane. And I think what we're all starting to realize is that blockchain isn't going anywhere. Whether a certain cryptocurrency is still going to be dominant within the next two years, or you know, so an NFT collection is going to be kind of the dominant one as well. That is hard to know. But blockchain, you know, we're seeing so many applications within
the healthcare agriculture. So many different fields, so many different industries, countries, huge brands, influencers, all finding new ways to kind of leverage this technology. And also in a time where it's, you know, the time kind of coordination is priceless as well. Right. So many things going on such a lack of confidence overall in companies and institutions and governments. Given the blockchain is offering, you know, manage
transparency in so many different ways. For me, it's it's hard to think of, you know, future where people don't end up adopting blockchain at a mass scale. So, so I see it becoming a primal focus and kind of every single industry. I'm not sure if you have any insight into how blockchains are going to affect even cigars, you know, but even. I know if you looked
into kind of blockchain as a way to track the supply chain of different products. So potentially using blockchain in order to ensure a quality of cigars or with your origin, you know, there's a lot of. File play as well in all these industries. So not sure that's something that you've also looked into then got something to say. Always my friend always. Don't be surprised if I
come out with cigar coin. What about you Sean? Where do you see the future of blockchain tech and cryptocurrency in the next three to five years? Yeah, it's an interesting one. I kind of want to cheat on that question because three or five years is almost two short, a time period, right? For this. For three to five years, I definitely see there's going to be huge
growth. There's going to be new applications of blockchain tech and a lot of injuries, sorry, injuries industries are going to get shaken up a little bit. But because of that, right? Because this kind of shakes up traditional industries, there's going to be a lot of pushback against it. So maybe actually a lot might not happen over the next three or five years because of the resistance
to onboarding the technology. So for example, you know a lot about Bitcoin, obviously, there's been a lot of resistance to onboarding Bitcoin because of its energy and efficiency and a lot of other negative stereotypes and narratives surrounding space. And those narratives come from a place for a reason. It's because Bitcoin and blockchain technology and it itself is a threat to the existing establishment. So naturally, there's
that pushback, but overall, I believe, and this is where I cheat on the question, if you asked me 10 to 20 years down the line, we're going to have blockchain will consume everything. You'll have everything because the blockchain is essentially a way to store data, right? And convey information. And in some of the internet, everything is information now. And if you have a better way of
storing that information, which secure and verifiable, then eventually people will use that, whether it's, you know, supply chain management for cigars or art, where you can prove for the ownership and verifiability. By blockchain and eventually, it's just so much easier to have things like education certificates and bills and any paperwork, all just digital on blockchain. And it's, you know, unutable, inherently verifiable. So it just makes
sense that sort of everything will become NFT's, you know, you'll go to the cinema and you won't buy a movie ticket. You'll buy, but the ticket will be an NFT almost. And if it's a really special movie, you can sell it in a few years time, you know. And that's what's cool. So we have this ownership through blockchain and all these different things, which I really
think is going to subsume the world and shake up all these industries. And it is coming no matter what. Grace yourselves. Hey, gentlemen, I really do appreciate you taking the time to speak with me, educate me and my listeners today. One more time. Let folks know where we can find you guys and the project. Okay. So again, the best place to find us if you really
want to get involved is our discord, which you can find on our Twitter, which also conveys a lot of our information. And the best one stop shot would be our website crypto corals tribe.io, which is, you know, a really slick piece of website building, which you can see anything, which my man Jimmy worked very hard on. So definitely go check that out. And, you know, I
think you'll be impressed. Awesome. Thank you so much for your time. Ladies and gentlemen, Jimmy Lane and Sean Honeyman of crypto coral tribe guys have an amazing day. Thank you.
