You're listening to the only place on the internet that offers the perfect blend of high-quality premium cigars and cryptocurrency news and commentary. Welcome to cigars and crypto. Now here's your host, Invest Noir. Hey ladies and gentlemen, welcome to this episode of cigars and crypto. You know who it is, you should pour in the world. Let me tell you, I am always happy to speak with my

friend, not a wizard of the Newark one team. Sir, good evening to you. Good evening to you. Great. It's happy to be here. Yeah, man. Have you been. It's been a while since we spoke in the last true. It's been what two months about that. About two months. Yeah, I had four on last month. Yeah, right. I've been well, but busy. Unfortunately, not busy for noir,

3/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

but rather busy in private life because I'm looking to change flats in the next month. And at the same time, I'm changing cars. So I'm currently organizing, like, getting another car selling my current car. And all that's taking a lot of effort. Okay. Well, that's good, man. It shows progress and change. I like progress and change. Yeah. How have you been. I'm well, my friend. I

4/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

can't complain. I am actively working full time, part time job. I have two businesses. So I'm always, always, always busy. And when you throw four kids in the mix, man, it's never a dull moment for me. So I know, but I can't complain. Yeah, I can't complain. I can't complain. So my friend, what's new? What's up with noir? Well, we've been making progress on the swap.

5/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

The swap's the big, the big thing right now. Anyway, the swap infrastructure has been thoroughly tested in the test net and is working falllessly, which we're very happy with. Because that was one of our big goals. I have a strong infrastructure for the swap. So we don't have to have to do things manually, because that always introduces errors. And yeah, so we're very happy with that.

Currently, floor and Christian are researching, which we're working on. We're working on the privacy protocol to implement in the new wallet in the new, more protocol. And they're evaluating whether we're going to stay with the sigma protocol, which we, which is the one we currently have. Or whether it would make sense to switch to that case, snacks or lalantis. Because the privacy protocol, as we're doing

7/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

a whole new wallet, we have to implement the privacy protocol again. Anyway, all right. Floor has to do it. And so at this point, it makes sense to evaluate which one might be the best option, because we can just as easily, as easily change it as stay with sigma. Okay. Now this is interesting. This is a major overhaul to the project. Code in encoded is yes.

8/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

Yeah, major overall ZK Snarks, if I'm not mistaken, is a part of like a manero. I think I think serious and the lalantis is a part of a fero if I'm not mistaken. I actually don't know about that one. Okay. Okay. Yeah. I think, you know, privacy is important when it comes to cryptocurrency. People don't understand just how transparent crypto is. Yeah. There's a desire to

9/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

have cryptocurrencies used as everyday payments. And they take for granted just how private cash is. And when you add privacy protocols to cryptocurrencies, you move cryptocurrencies closer to the privacy of cash. But you have the efficiency of a blockchain to allow for transactions to happen in a trustless manner. So hats, hats off to you guys with doing that, man. I think that's amazing. Yeah, I mean,

10/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

privacy is a big part of noir. We've had private, we had a privacy protocol from the start. First, I think it's, it was called zero coin. Yes. And then sigma, which is, I think kind of a iteration on zero on zero coin. If I remember correctly. And yeah, so privacy is a big part of noir. And we're very happy to have privacy because we, as you

11/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

already said, consider, consider that a very important point in the cryptocurrency space. And yeah, now, um, regarding the swap, the current thoughts are that we could now start preparing preparing the swap on the main net. Hmm. Without the privacy protocol first. So we could start doing that and then implement the privacy protocol later. Okay. But at the same time, as we already have experienced that coordination

12/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

with exchanges, and all that will take some time, even if we start preparing the main net now for the swap, with the exchanges taking this week time is always the privacy protocol might get implemented in time for the actual swap. Oh, okay. So, so you want to do the privacy protocol now. And then when, when the exchanges are ready, then you have everything already bundled up.

13/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

That's, that's the one option. The thing is we don't know exactly how long exchanges will take. Because sometimes you get an answer within a day, sometimes an exchange takes two weeks to just answer your first mail. Wow. And so there's a lot of variance in that. So, current thoughts are we can start preparing the swap now and start contacting all the exchanges. And if it all

14/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

goes very quickly. We might have a version of the wallet without a privacy protocol first. And then implement the privacy protocol after the swap. Or if the exchanges take more time, then we could get the privacy protocol. Perhaps done within that timeframe. Speaking of timeframe, we don't yet have a specific timeframe for the swap. Are you, are you asking questions? Yeah. Um, simply because we don't

15/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

yet know, first of all, what privacy protocol to use. And then how much time the implementation of that protocol will take. And because we have no clue how long exchanges will take. Right. So if you go with option B, which is releasing to the exchanges prior to having the privacy protocol. What does that look like for the exchange when you do? To implement the privacy protocol.

16/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

Do you have to go back through this approval process again? I think that the not the complete approval process. Because that would just be like an update. Just a regular update. Okay. I usually cool with that. Okay. Um, it's the chipwits swap that they don't like. Yeah, because that's essentially a completely new wallet, a completely new chain. If we're unlucky, one or two exchanges might say,

17/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

well, that's a completely new coin. Please pay our fees again. Because it is a new chain. Yeah. Even though it's, uh, it's new coin. We've had the kind of opposites swap problem when we changed from, well, not swap, but the opposite problem kind of when we changed from Zoyn to Noir. Because that was, just the rebrand, but on the same, uh, on the same chain. But

18/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

still several exchanges and even coin market cap was like, well, no, that's new name. So it's a completely new coin. Wow. And that's why the history on coin market cap, von Wa, goes back only to like what, mid 2017, I think, or like even end of 2017, because after you've been thrown off, you have to reach a certain amount of trade volume again to be listed.

19/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

Oh, okay. So yeah, it's, both exchanges and like coin listing platforms are quite peculiar sometimes indeed. And agree. Yeah. I mean, I can see why in some circumstances, they don't, they want to get paid more fees. And I could live with them, saying, well, okay, yeah, that's more work for us than a normal update, because we have to change all your data. So if they just

20/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

said, well, please pay us, I don't know, 20% of our fee again or 10% or whatever, like a small rebrand fee or whatever, I'd be fine with that. But just saying, well, you're a completely new coin, while we're obviously not both in the case of the rebrand from Zoyn to Noir. And I mean, now the, the argument would be more valid because we're actually on a

21/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

new chain. So that actually technically, it is in new coin, though actually, it's not because we're importing all the, all we're importing most wallets. Why are the swap? So yeah, it's difficult. Always difficult. Right. It's difficult. And there are a lot of new nuances to be uncovered and discovered at the same time. Yes. So, I think that's a good thing. When, when we, when the organizational

22/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

community has moved towards the new chain, is that going to require a new wallet? Yes. Okay. That is, I mean, that's, that's, that's the main thing we're doing. We're re-implementing the whole thing so that we can clean up all the wallets code and throw away all the clutter. That has amassed over the years of several developers and first joined then while and all of that. So

23/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

it is a new wallet, but we're trying to make it basically resemble the old one as closely as possible. But it's a complete rewrite of the whole coin, essentially. And that's why things like the privacy protocol have to be re-implemented. And that's why this is the perfect time to look at that piece while the hood is open and the engine is apart. Exactly. You know, if

24/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

you want to upgrade something, now's the time to do it. Or more or less. Well, it's not, I think it's not quite the right analogy. Um, analogy, sorry, because we're not, we're not picking the car apart and putting it back together. Instead, we're building a completely new car and just taking a look at the old one and saying, well, this right here, we're going to, we're

25/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

going to take this, but buy it new and don't leave the old one together. Look at the parts by the parts new and put them together. Into our own new clean car. And at that point, we can go, well, this worked well. So we're going to order that one new or well, this part didn't work so well. So we're going to order a replacement part. Understand

26/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

the privacy feature, for example. Gotcha. So let's take a look forward. Once the team has identified the protocol that they want to use, whether it's the Lantis or ZK Snarks, um, what's next for the team or are, or is the team singularly focused on this piece right now? Now I mean, the next steps will be getting the swap ready on the main net. So, no, I

27/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

mean, after, I mean, after the main net is done. I've completely after the swap. Oh, we don't have any particular plans for that right now, because all our attention is focused on the swap. I mean, there are, before we, before we started implementing the swap, we had some thoughts about like future roadmap and whatever, but because the swap is such a huge undertaking, those have just

28/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

been like, we forgotten them for now essentially, and we'll rethink all of that after the swap is done, because then we can re-evaluate. So, we're going to see what makes sense at that point. And that I understand. I got you. Yeah, this is a really big deal. And, uh, you guys are making a lot of good progress. And hats off to you and flow in the

29/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

rest of the team. For what you're doing and actively engaging the community on what and how you're doing this. Yes. So, especially flow. I mean, he's lifting most of the hard work really. And so, um, he's doing a really great job. Yeah. Indeed. Shout out to flow. How's he doing, by the way? I don't quite know. Yes. As I've been very busy, and I think he's

30/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

quite busy as well between his private life and implementing the swap and all of that. We haven't really chat much lately. So, I'm afraid I don't really know. Okay. Well, let's, let's schedule a conversation with the three of us next month so we can all catch up. Yeah. I'd be glad. Sounds good, man. Sounds good. So, what, right now, um, Gravy X is the big exchange

31/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

for, uh, Nour, right? Yes. Any, any plans to, um, work more with or market more for, uh, block DX or BISC? Well, no plans, really. Okay. Um, and from what we've seen, most people, especially newcomers to, like the crypto space, don't care that much whether they're using a centralized or decentralized exchange. Agree. And because centralized exchanges are usually easier to use and you can get into

32/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

trouble with, uh, trouble in, um, air quotes, uh, when with decentralized exchanges, because they just usually don't have that much of volume with a small coin like noir. Okay. And so we usually recommend the exchange. With the highest volume just because that's where actually where people actually can buy and sell noir. Mm-hmm. And it doesn't really make sense to send, like newcomers to some exchange where

33/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

they'll have to wait two months to get their buy order for a thousand more fulfilled. And so, yeah, it's, it's kind of a vicious cycle. Yeah. We tell people to go to Gravy X. So more people go to Gravy, so less people go to block DX and BISC. And then because of that, we tell more people to go to Gravy X, not the other two. Right.

34/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

Right. What'd be interesting to know how many people are actually using block DX and, uh, BISC versus Gravy X? Right. It's funny because I, I use BISC and block DX more than I use any other exchange. Mm-hmm. And that's, I'm, I'm, I'm old school, right? And I, I've been around since BISC was BITSQUARE. And that was like my decentralized exchange of choice because when I got

35/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

into the space, everything was about decentralization. Um, so, yeah. I put some orders out there in the past that never got filled because there was no one there willing to sell, uh, noir one. Yeah. But I have a lot of money. I have hope and faith that over the next couple of years, we'll start to see more decentralized exchanges, uh, stand up and, uh, get more

36/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

volume as a lot of these exchanges are, right, these centralized exchanges are regulated out of business. Um, there, and if not regulated out of business, there will be, um, restrictions on the people who can use these exchanges. And so, um, I'm hoping that decentralized exchanges will make a comeback. Shout out to our, um, Arlin Kowik, Black DX, my man, uh, doing big things and, uh, looking

37/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

forward to, to seeing more people use Dex's and appreciate the value, uh, with decentralization. So, what else is going on with you, man? Well, what's interesting. Well, I mean, for one thing, of course, like, in my private life, the car buying and selling and looking for a flat. Yeah. Um, which is not easy. Because, um, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm,

38/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm just, especially for a flat. I've got very specific things I'd like, um, and, and of course, if, if, a very specific budget in which those things will have to fit. And usually, the things I want, and the budget I

39/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

actually have to spend on things, there's just, this, like, a small room where those two coincide. And so that narrow room is where I tend to look and try to find something that fits what I want completely, or as completely as possible. Yeah, there's nothing wrong with being picky about what you want, especially if you're going to be spending your money to do it. Yeah, exactly.

40/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

That's very important. And, yeah, I've, I've actually found a car yesterday. Which I will be buying. Congrats, man. Thanks. I'm quite happy about that. Um, and yeah, now get to organize all the things like, because it's from a private seller. So, and I still have my current car. So I have to sell my current car. Then get the money somehow drive back to the private seller,

41/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

get the car. Then, like, uh, register it in my name, which is, which is a whole another thing because, like, the, the offices where you register cars here, they're still in full COVID mode, which I mean, it's totally fine for me. But you have to, um, what's the word? Um, you have to book an appointment. And like, the next appointment is usually in like two weeks.

42/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

And I'm going to be, um, two weeks, which is, I feel like quite a long time if you're trying to register your car. Right. So, especially because in like, um, and the usual like, uh, used car buying contracts, you sign to like, um, register the car and your name within five days or whatever, which was fine when you could just walk in, wait like an hour

43/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

and do that. But now with, um, having to make an appointment two weeks in advance, it's kind of tricky. So, yeah. I've also been reading something very interesting. Okay. I was there. A new history of Western philosophy by Anthony Kenny, okay, which is essentially, I think he's a professor of philosophy in Oxford. If I'm not mistaken in Oxford University. And he's written a, uh, a thousand

44/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

page history of Western philosophy, which starts in like ancient Greece and goes to like modern times, 20th century. And it's four parts essentially. And like time parts, like once, uh, ancient philosophy, then I think medieval philosophy, then, I don't know. Renaissance philosophy, whatever. And modern philosophy. And for every one of these parts, he first goes through the, uh, that timeframe. From like beginning to end. And

45/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

then goes into specific chapters about specific topics. And examines which philosophers said what and all of that. And that's to me, it's extremely interesting. Especially the thoughts that, I mean, even the ancient Greece already had. It's very fascinating. But also quite a difficult grief. Sounds interesting, my friend. I have to check that out. Make sure you DM me the name of that again. Okay. Oh, when

46/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

I listen back and do the edits, our, our gravity is cool. I can DM it to you. Perfect. Perfect. So before I let you go, my friend, make sure you tell folks where we can find you, find the war online and the web. Any exchanges. Well, no, well, where to start? First of all, no, official dot org. That's our website. You can find essentially all other

47/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

links there. Especially that's the most important one, our discord. Then our Twitter handle is at Marcoin. And we are on quite a few exchanges. And we are on the internet. Most notably, Traviacs has already said, Bisk, has already said, block the X, which we're all so already said, and Phoenix box. All right. Hey, my friend, I want to take a moment to thank you for your

48/48
This sectionLinkBookmarkComment

continued support and for joining me today. I really do appreciate it. No problem. I'm always glad to be here. It's always quite fun. Indeed. Indeed. Ladies and gentlemen, not always other new arc with team. I want you all to have an amazing day. And thank you for listening to this episode of Carzacryl. Thank you.
