Unexpected Cometary Structure In The Milky Way Is a Strange Pulsar

how wonderful person this is Anton and today we're going to be discussing yet another Discovery from right here in the Milky Way that nobody really expected at first a discovery of a somewhat rare event an event resembling something else we've discussed not so on a roll and here is roughly what this new observation looks like an unusual streak of something moving away from something else forming
a somewhat strange line in the process now this is not the first time it's actually been observed but it's one of the few objects that we know of that create something very similar and before I explain to you what this is I actually wanted to briefly mention a previous Discovery we've discussed a few months ago and a slight clarification from just a few weeks ago it's
actually in regards to this trick you see right here they both resemble one another and they both kind of look similar but they actually were created by entirely different events especially because of the size differences this particular object seems to be at least 200 000 light years across and initially the scientists believed that this was maybe a a result of a massive black hole escaping from
a distant Galaxy and creating a kind of a tale of stars that form behind it as it created a lot of disturbance and a lot of turbulence now this is a pretty cool explanation and it obviously created a lot of excitement but the problem is that as I've recently mentioned in the video you can find in the description it was most likely not the correct explanation
but the scientists later discovering that it actually resembled other similar objects which seemed to be basically very distant thin galaxies but visible to us and on and without a presence of a bulge and the explanation from this recent study was quite difficult to argue with so basically these unusual streaks of light or streaks of matter seem to be created by various events and sometimes are just
very simple objects seen from a very specific perspective but what about this new discovery well in terms of size it's much smaller and it seems to have been produced by something entirely different in a very different type of an event first of all this is located right here in the Milky Way and since to be only approximately 40 light years across so several thousand times smaller
and second of all unlike the previous Discovery I showed you this only seems to be visible with radial light and if you use one of the maps in the description below you can actually see how it compared to visible light if you switch to radio light the entire galaxy looks very different and there are quite a lot of different formations and unusual features that would be
practically invisible to us otherwise and noticeably there are quite a lot of these spherical formations which we now are almost certain or probably caused by ancient Supernova and so when examining one of these spherical formations specifically one not so far away from GRS 1915 plus 105 a very well known binary star that contains a black hole with very periodic emissions of x-rays sort of by accident
they discovered something else nearby a tale of radio light that's approximately 40 light years long but in this case we've seen something similar before here for example just some observations from the last few years and this unusual comment like structure or comment like tale is what's known as a bull shark nebula usually a nebula produced as a result of something moving really fast through somewhat dense
gas in other words an object gets kicked out really fast from somewhere else and as it moves across the nagulate it creates this unusual formation but what's interesting about this particular bull shark is the actual origin of what's creating this it seems to be a radio Pulsar that's also usually known to produce another interesting information that you see right here known as a pulsar wind nebula
here's sort of what it looks like in a time lapse and these are also mostly visible just in the radio light but it is actually a result of a very fast spinning neutron star creating somewhat unusual effects in its vicinity but in this case if you trace back the line itself it seems to come from another spherical formation which the scientists now believe is very likely
the ancient Supernova that created all of this both of these formations are roughly around 40 light years across and so here the scientists are pretty certain that this was probably a supernova that happened approximately 80 000 years ago that ended up creating the formation that's approximately 40 light years across but it was a supernova of a star that was probably under 20 solar masses which ended
up producing a neutron star and not a black hole and though usually these neutron stars stay inside Supernova remnants producing these formations that we refer to as poster with nebula in this case the Supernova must have been one-sided as in it had a little bit more force on one side which resulted in the star escaping and producing the bull shark we see in the end creating
this unusual formation and more importantly a very active closer that's basically beeping in radio light as it travels really fast away from the place of its origin with the tail itself very likely generated through similar effects similar magnetic effects to a typical Pulsar wind nebula this is the famous Crab Nebula with a crab pulser visible in the middle although into originally all these observations were sort
of made separate first they discovered the unusual tale and then by using a survey known as fast Galactic plane pulse or snapshot survey they were able to find that there is a newly found Pulsar right in that location indicating that it was definitely a neutron star created around 80 000 years ago with this particular pulser spinning with a period of 138 milliseconds and since they were
able to discover the length which is 40 light years with a supernova radius of 43 light years they could then work out the overall velocity and the overall age here it seems to be moving at approximately 320 kilometers per second and it traveled for approximately 82 000 years which means that it is actually moving slow enough that it's most likely going to just move around this
area for a very long time it's not going to escape the Milky Way galaxy and it's just going to assume a somewhat unusual overbit but this is still a pretty rare Discovery however it's somewhat similar to Discovery from 1987. an object the site is referred to as the mouse would be very similar features pretty much the same for Mission history and named Mouse nebula back in
the days and because of this the scientists are now referring to this one as Minnie Mouse but only a handful of similar objects discovered in the last few decades which of course means that it's a pretty exciting Discovery somewhat rare Discovery but not a discovery that's unexpected it just means that sometimes certain Supernova seem to give the parent star a bit of a kick with the
star than basically being kicked out and in a process creating various effects such as various bull sharks through the combination of magnetic effects and the overall motion but even though it took several decades to find another one of these objects because of the advances in radio astronomy it's actually quite likely we'll be finding more and more in the next few years especially because we have so
many different surveys looking for new neutron stars and new pulsers and we have so many other telescopes trying to analyze the radio light even better and create better radio maps of the entire night skies for example the Australian researchers created this English incredible radio map and you can find in the description below that was actually only made a couple of years ago and we've talked about
this in the video you can find in the description and so because of these very recent Maps we're not going to have even more discoveries as the scientists get slightly better at organizing their data and trying to connect the dots especially when discoveries come from very different telescopes and so until these feature discovers check out all the relevant leaks including these incredible maps in the description
