the breaking news from the Supreme Court an historic announcement that justi is to hear former president Trump's appeal after Colorado Supreme Court decided he should be off the ballot because of January 6th the Supreme Court late today saying they will not only hear the case they will do so relatively quickly when it comes to the Court's calendar the justice is agreeing to hear arguments on February

8th just one month from now suggesting they could decide on this before super Tuesday before voters in Colorado joined so many other states in voting during this primary Jonathan Carl leading us off tonight tonight an historic announcement from the Supreme Court with sweeping implications for the 2024 election the justice is revealing they will take take up the case of whether Donald Trump can be banned from

the ballot in Colorado for engaging in Insurrection against the United States on January 6th the court putting the case on an extraordinarily Fast Track hearing arguments on February 8th just over a month from now a ruling expected shortly thereafter perhaps in time for super Tuesday the Colorado Supreme Court banned Trump from the primary ballot there citing the 14th Amendment which prohibits any officer of the United

States who swore an oath to the Constitution and engaged an Insurrection from holding office whatever the high court decides could have an impact far beyond Colorado there have been similar efforts to keep Trump off the ballot in more than 30 States John Carl who's been reporting on this every step of the way so the court will hear Donald Trump's appeal of course this is significant but

also John there's also news from the court tonight involving abortion and at issue here is whether a state can make it a crime to actually perform or assist in an abortion in an emergency situation and what has the court signal tonight David the Supreme Court has temporarily reinstated a near total ban on abortions in the state of Idaho even in the case of medical emergency a

parts of the ban had been blocked by a federal judge because it includes no exceptions for the life of the mother the Supreme Court says it will hear an appeal on this case in April with another potentially Landmark abortion ruling coming from the Supreme Court by the end of June David John Carl on both breaking headlines tonight John thank you we turn now to the other

of snow slamming into one another on icy overpasses traffic backed up for miles started slipping and sliding slowed down to about 20 mph and then made it past the tunnel and then that was it in Witchita Kansas cars slipping and sliding on Interstate during the morning commute we are slammed with calls I was talking to dispatch while ago and the phones just keep blowing up one
