Republicans Criticize Hunter Biden Plea Deal | The View

Republicans are reacting to Hunter Biden's plea deal in this clip that I want you to see it continues to show the two-tier system in America if you were the president's leading political opponent the doj tries to literally put you in jail and give you presents the doj should not be able to withhold any information now saying that because a pending investigation they should be able to

provide chairman Comer with any information that he requires number one it is cronyism number two it is camouflage and number three it's corruption the doj proved today that they are not serious about holding the Biden family accountable for crimes that have been committed this is just a slap on the wrist this is a sweet deal for Hunter Biden go get them I'm sorry my mouth was

saying yeah but um is it a sweetheart deal I don't think so well there was no addressing why when it was compared um in the beginning by McCarthy there was no mention of the fact he held classified top secret documents that compromised people in the field allies I mean that is very different than not paying your taxes like talking about profits well I'm saying that McCarthy

was defending like this is a two-tiered system Trump is being treated differently as a former president they're treated differently because the laws are different depending on the offense and that these are two apples and oranges comparisons well the other thing is it's not really a sweetheart deal I mean he pled guilty to to a misdemeanor tax violations tax crimes and um and he got probation for

it he paid the taxes back and he was still charged and typically when you pay the taxes back you don't get charged um the other thing even when you return the documents yes that's when you return it because you returned us it was actually in my view a pretty zealous and robust charging document for the behavior how long was it going on it was going on

for five years the investigation and that's all they they are they are charging him but they also gave him what is called a diversion program for the felony gun um charge and that is because he lied about his drug abuse when he applied for the permit there are like millions of people that apply for permits and and lie on their gun charges and less than I

think one percent of those people are ever charged under this felony statute and so I would say it's the opposite of a plea of this sort of you know sweetheart deal he's being held to account for what he did and that's the only way our system of justice Works everyone has to be treated equally and he is being treated no differently than anyone else just like

Trump was uh charged I think with 34 counts 30 something 37 in in New York he's now been charged federally as well no one is above the law yeah so I have kind of mixed feelings on this and that when I when I worked for Trump I advised him to if you're going to go after Hunter Biden don't go after his addiction and his personal struggles

nearly every family in America has been touched by somebody battling addiction I've dealt with it in my family it is totally legitimate to go after anything in the the tax fraud area or even business dealings abroad which you know the fact that he made 11 million dollars from overseas business deals in Ukraine and China that's something that I do think needs to be looked into but

it was investigated for five years and here's the problem in any traditional political environment the president's son being charged with the tax crime Mr misdemeanors and felony would be a big deal but in a Biden versus Trump it's not because you have a republican Trump who's now been indicted at the state level and by the Department of Justice but not because he's a republican that's not

what we're that's not yeah like say this was a Tim Scott versus Joe Biden I'd say be a legitimate campaign issue it's not going to change the course of you know the presidential but to say hey there's some shady dealings that involve your son but when you put it up against Donald Trump in just the plethora of Investigations of crime children's activities the 41 Chinese patents

that Ivanka got the 640 million dollars they were in the administration at the time that these two things happened whereas Hunter Biden is not in the administration and I'm happy to report that Trump's numbers are going down from 53 to 47 percent among Republicans so those indictments are working don't cost that something I think here when we interviewed him about there's a difference between something being

a chargeable crime and something just looking bad I mean think about the example of the fact that we the founders never really thought about electing someone from prison because Donald Trump might be there but technically it's not on the books it just looks bad you know so right now there is something to be said for there is no chargeable crime they found even if optically that

money dealings I know there have been Curiosities and it's a nepotism problem 67 but no one seems to pay attention to it JFK didn't pay attention to it when he named Bobby Kennedy his attorney general we've seen this thing over and over and over again and it and Jonathan Carl said yesterday we're going to continue to see it I don't know why we're going to continue

to see it because nobody follows the letter of the law yeah well nobody follows it and I'm sorry the other thing that that for me is like listen if you get investigated if they're doing an investigation I'm all for it investigate everything everybody everything but if you took five years and this is what you came up with I'm going to assume you didn't find very much

more about that that was uh that was chargeable that was rechargeable yeah now I want them to go through that hand what is that thing called Laptop that damn laptop well they have going through the laptop I'm sick of hearing about this laptop this laptop I hope it just crumbles so the thing about the laptop is it's you know he we know he had this terrible

addiction problem and that's why he got a diversion um program for the for the gun charge the laptop unfortunately from what I've seen and read there are pictures of him nude there are pictures of him with women doing drugs this is what I want I want them to shut up about it then go after him for whatever you you are you know it's not going to

stop you all from going after Biden everybody knows that you don't have to tell us we know you're going to keep looking because you're Lookers you look away when you see something there's this actually worth seeing but you want to look for something that's not really there so I want you all to do you are damnedest to get all the stuff you need to try to

get because that's what we did they made a case so strong in four or five states that they could take him to task because you can't do the stuff that he did if you can find something then show the nation but stop holding up BS stuff but when there's nothing there but I wonder if people I wonder if people notice that every time we talk about

anything like this the Republican party has come up with nothing in policy nothing I mean what are they offering the American people I don't disagree with that well go ahead let's hear it I think um I think the fact that we've passed the inflation reduction act and it has not reduced inflation we're passing we're trying to promote it's a worldwide problem but it's not just in

America it doesn't we shouldn't address it and I mean the fact that we're continuing to hike interest rates I think dealing with um I thought the interest rates had stabilized they decided not to give it a hike but we it's I think we need to deal with energy in this country we need to deal with border security I mean we we pretend that it's not an

issue what is the Republican Party says wait wait wait wait wait you see Brian over there you see Paul behind you you know what this means read this thing please oh I'm sorry I have a legal note everyone another one God every time Hunter Biden's lawyers says quote Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and

addiction in his life and that he looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward the White House has said quote the president and first lady loved their son and support him as he continues to rebuild his life Joy is asking me kind about the Republican Party platform and I get it the loudest voices on the Republican side the Marjorie Taylor greens tend to dominate a

lot of the headlines and make you think all we're doing is trying to you know subpoena Biden officials and not get anything done for the country the vast majority of elected Republicans actually want to want to focus on the party platform and like what we could do for the country and it's securing the Border it's strengthening the economy it's strengthening the middle class it's um you

know having school choices having the best access to education for all students regardless of where they come from and I say this only because I think there's a tendency to just kind of frame Everyone by the extremes of both sides and the extremes do not represent my party with the exception of Donald Trump and as you noted in that CNN poll his favorite building with the

GOP is going down there is a scenario where he's not going to be the nominee and we can actually have robust policy discussions about what the two sides believe in and want to see yeah okay we hope that we hope that we hope that it's all yeah yeah
